Portland, Maine band There Is No Sin releases new video of "El Cid", a track from unreleased album We Are Revealed.
Print View May 28, 2011 (FPRC) -- The official music video for ?El Cid? was recently released by Portland, Maine based band There Is No Sin. The track comes from the indie band?s sophomore album titled We Are Revealed that is expected to hit the shelves this August. Filmmaker Rukshan Thenuwara directed the winning submission for a contest put on by Clip Records to create this video. It portrays the story of a relationship strained by the effects of alcohol abuse. Although the song does not exactly reflect that plotline, frontman and lyrics writer Troy Keiper entertains the idea of different interpretations of his work.
We Are Revealed includes a hefty 50 page booklet to go along with the eleven tracks present on the album. French photographer Christophe Garnier?s hauntingly beautiful photographs are paired with Keiper?s lyrics and artwork.
According to Ireland?s Pop Culture Monster, There Is No Sin represents a ?fresh and bold new take on indie rock.? The follow-up to their 2009 debut There Is No Sin in My Body isn?t coming out until the end of this summer but it?s already generating a global buzz. Despite a sold-out debut CD and a growing European audience, the band?s captivating, often first-take ethos hasn?t changed.
We Are Revealed, the new 11-track release, will continue to provoke lively comparisons, be it to Elliott Smith, Bon Iver or M Ward. Frontman Troy Keiper?s multi-instrumentalist recording style and startling literary honesty seem to defy definition though. His creations are pop songs at heart yet as one reviewer noted, they are ?impassioned conversations that are both so sad and personal.?
