August 21, 2011 (FPRC) -- After a successful first year of the newly created Diploma Of Screen Acting, Screenwise is excited to announce that applications for the 2012 intake will open on 1st September 2011 and commence in February 2012.

The two year Diploma in Screen Acting is the first of its kind in Australia as it focuses on the skills and knowledge required for acting on screen, which includes post production.

The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) statistics show that 85% of an actor's career-long income will be derived from television. As there is little work available in the Australian Theatre industry, for most actors the medium of screen will be their bread and butter. The rise in quality Australian television productions, such as the Underbelly Series, is making it easier for new actors to be recognised nationally and internationally and opens up a larger number of doors into the industry.

The Screenwise Diploma of Screen Acting provides intense training in the unique acting skills and techniques required to meet the demands of today's Film & TV industry. It comprises of 14 Units of Core Subjects and One Elective, giving students the opportunity to excel in their preferred area. Based on the 'Roberts Method', the Course mixes a strong academic element with hard-nosed professionalism. With current industry working professionals as tutors, the students are exposed to behind the scenes tricks of the trade and are offered an invaluable insight into the vast professional experience of some of Australia's top names, such as Jeremy Lindsay Taylor (Underbelly Razor), Gary Sweet (The Chronicles of Narnia), Peter Andrikidis (East West 101).

The duration of the Diploma Course is 1380 hours, delivered in 20 hours per week, over a two-year full-time program. Screenwise also offers a wide range of short and long-term courses tailored to suit beginners to advanced actors. For information on entry requirements, how to apply and fee structure, please contact the Screenwise office.

Screenwise is also excited to announce that they are doubling in size. In August 2011 they will expand into the floor space next door of their Surry Hills office. This means more rehearsal space for students, an additional acting studio and a self-testing room for those who wish to audition for overseas productions.

In industry related news, past Screenwise students Isabel Lucas and Chris Hemsworth are taking Hollywood by storm at an increasing pace. Aside from Lucas' highly anticipated role as Athena in Immortals (from the Producer of 300 and to be released later this year), she also picked up the Star of Tomorrow Award at the 13th Annual Young Hollywood Awards.

Chris Hemsworth has been busy reprising his Thor character, is starring in The Avengers (with Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson) and is gearing up to star alongside Kristen Stewart (The Twighlight Saga) and James Franco (127 Hours) in Snow White and the Huntsman, from Producer Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland).

Judge Jules is a world-famous name on the dance and house scene and regularly plays nights and sets at all of the island's best known clubs, including Pacha, Space and Amnesia. This year's closing party will be held on Sunday 18th September and the night is sure to see thousands of clubbers dancing the night away and then enjoying the sunrise at the famous Cafe del Mar on the beach front in San Antonio.

DJs on show for clubbers to enjoy on the night include the likes of Eddie Halliwell, Simon Patterson, Vicky Devine, Arty and more - plus also a guest DJ slot on the decks from Take That singer Howard Donald.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com comments: 'Ibiza is always busy around the September period because of its weather, but with this big party on to close the club season it will be busier than ever. The smart move is to book accommodation well ahead of travelling there.'

July 25, 2011 (FPRC) -- phati?tude Literary Magazine is pleased to announce its Fall (does this need to be capitalized?) Issue, AWAKENINGS: BRIDGING THE CULTURAL DIVIDE Remembering September 11th. The deadline is August 12, 2011 and the publication date will be September 11, 2011, available on Amazon.com (http://tinyurl.com/phatitude-amazon) and other online outlets.

The attacks of September 11, 2001 reshaped the face of the nation and changed the course of history ? not just in New York or the United States, but around the globe. AWAKENINGS will explore September 11th and its effects on literature as well as literature?s attempts to convey September 11th. We plan to accomplish this by highlighting works by Jewish and Arab-Americans, Israeli, and Arab poets and writers, including poetry and short fiction, book reviews, intellectual debate and scholarly inquiry that cultivate critical and creative thought. The editors are looking for 'essays about what it means to be any of these types of writers (Jewish and Arab Americans, Israeli and Arab), and how you define these types of literature. We will also accept first impressions, poetry, and short stories.. While we will look at works written shortly after September 11, 2001, we are particularly interested in contemporary reflective pieces.

This issue is being shepherded by editorial interns Amanda Ostrove and Eric Barbera. Ten years ago, we compiled an issue commemorating September 11 in 2001, which was never published due to lack of funds. Ostrove and Barbera will select works from that compilation as well as newer works that provide a fresh perspective on what has happened since September 11th. Here, we have a rare opportunity to publish works written in the spirit of the moment alongside retrospective literature. While we are fully aware that politics plays an important role in this inquiry, as a literary publication, we choose to approach it via culture, the arts and literature. Our goal is to inform and educate readers through the eyes of our best writers.

For more information, check out our Submission Guidelines (http://tinyurl.com/phatitude-submission) and submit to editor@phatitude.org. Our website is full of great information (http://phatitude.org/online/phatitude-magazine/) about the magazine, previews, subscriptions and sales, and an Authors/Artist Index that lists the writers and the works featured in our magazine.

Attend Rheingau Wine Festival in Frankfurt between 31 August to 9 September 2011

DirectRooms.com can confirm that the annual Rheingau Wine Festival will take place between the 31st of August and the 9th of September 2011 in Frankfurt, Germany.

PDF  View as PDF  Print View

July 11, 2011 (FPRC) -- This eleven-day festival allows local producers to showcase their products in the beautiful and charming Fressgass, Frankfurt's quaint restaurant district, which is located in a pedestrian zone on the Grosse Bockenheimer Strasse and the Opernplatz.

Visitors will be able to enjoy over 600 different wines from around the Rheingau region ranging from the finest, lightest summer wines and sparkling wines to the more alternative grapes and, of course, the region's most famous wine ? Riesling. As is customary, the Fressgass businesses will offer foods that best complement the wines on offer and stall will be open daily throughout the whole festival between 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.

The festival has been a yearly event since 1978, and its sole aim has been to bring local producers and consumers together to meet face to face. The festival is expected to attract in excess of 400,000 people this year. One of Frankfurt's best attended traditional festivals, the Rheingau Wine Festival will, as in previous years, offer no entertainment nor a programme, standing true to its original principle ? that this is all about the wine.

Entrance to this event is free, visitors attending the festival and looking for an accommodation in town, there are huge selections of hotels in Frankfurt offering a wide range of accommodation options. Book early now to avoid disappointment.
